What is Neuro Cranial Integration Technique (NCi)?
Neuro Cranial Integration (NCi) is a revolutionary technique that focuses on re-aligning cranial bones with the goal is to restore the optimal function of the nervous system. This re-alignment removes tension off cranial region, balances brain inside out, restores proper flow of Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) throughout the spine and the rest of the body, releases muscular and fascial fixations.
According to Nephi Cottam, DC “Craniopatny is based upon the fundamental principle that the body will heal and remain well when the central nervous system is in balance.” Dr. Nephi discovered that misalignment of cranial bones resulted in altered body functions and inability to heal. His finding was the first step in developing Craniopathy technique that takes pressure off the brain, so it can do its job more proficiently and allow the body to function at a higher level.
All body organs are regulated by the central nervous system. The job of the nervous system is to process and carry critical signals to organs and back to the brain. If this function is compromised, so is your health. Neuro Cranial Integration (NCi) allows the left and right brain hemispheres to re-balance and reintegrate in a profound way, so the function of the central nervous system automatically improves. Not surprisingly, patients have reported major improvements after NCi treatment.
The brain receives information from every organ and system in the body. After this information is interpreted, the brain transmits “healing signals” back through nerve pathways. Any fixation along this regulative pathway will cause loss of communication preventing the healing information reaching target organ.
Allen G. Terret, DC and Alfred Breig, MD researched the biomechanics of the spine and the Dura Matter (the tough membrane protecting brain and spinal cord). They proposed that prolonged fixations might result in poor cerebral blood flow leading to ischemia and irreversible damage to a tissue. This research recommended Neuro Cranial Integration (NCi) as powerful technique to release fixations in the cranium and entire spinal column.
Why is Neuro Cranial Integration (NCi) Different?
Neuro Cranial Integration (NCi) has a direct effect not just on the brain, but the whole spine and the entire nervous system in a way that is not accessible through other soft tissue and manipulative techniques. As was reported by Dr. Nephi Cottam “cranial adjustments are of first importance; the body adjustments come as secondary factors.”
Although procedures such as craniosacral, cranial release and few others also affect the cranium, none reaches and influences the dura mater in a way NCi does, that directly stimulates the brain and nervous system to create balance and improve health.
Neuro Cranial Integration (NCi) restores optimal signal transmission and function to the brain and nerves. With optimal signal transfers, the body is able to restore balance and achieve health on all levels – structural, physical, mental and emotional. It is often stated that NCi “Triggers the Body’s Reset Button” or releasing natural healing ability of the body.
How long does NCi treatment last and how it feels?
The Neuro Cranial Integration (NCi) procedure lasts only two to three minutes. It does not involve any traditional chiropractic adjustment. Instead, it feels like a deep stretch inside the neck and base of the scull. Most patients feel immediate “release” and a sense of “good change.” The technique is very safe and gentle. It can be performed on infants and geriatrics. Note: many cranial misalignment problems occur at birth, so early corrections can be very beneficial to achieve better health.
How does treating the brain affect the rest of the body?
Neuro Cranial Integration takes tension out of the nervous system, aligns cranial bones and balances brain from the inside out, restoring proper cerebrospinal fluid flow throughout the spine and entire body.
There is a constant mobility of cranial bones influencing movement of intracranial and intraspinal membranes creating rhythmic flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). This process facilitates exchange of nutrients and waste products throughout the central nervous system and all cells of the body. Neuro Cranial Integration (NCi) technique assists in resetting the rhythmic flow that often gets compromised due to number physiological factors.
“…the nervous system controls and coordinates all the functions of the body and relates it to its environment…” – Gray’s Anatomy
One might ask what specific conditions, diseases or symptoms are treated with Neuro Cranial Integration. NCi does not treat any disease. Instead, NCi technique addresses the body’s “mastermind organ, the brain, and everything it connects to.”
“If you are trying to restore your health, doesn’t it make more sense to start at the place where everything else is regulated — the brain? Your brain regulates every one of your body’s functions to the minute detail… without exception. No lasting healing can take place until the brain is balanced and functioning optimally.” – Craig Ross, DC
How does the brain affect my back pain?
While major portion of the nervous system Is protected by the skull and spinal column, the brain and spinal cord are protected by a tough protective membrane, called Dura Matter. This protective membrane holds hemispheres of the brain and extends down the spine protecting the spinal cord. Dura Matter is attached to the skull, first two cervical vertebrae and at the sacrum bone.
Research demonstrates that the alignment of cranial and spinal bones follows the alignment of the Dura Mater (translated from Latin as “tough matter”). When the alignment of Dura Matter is distorted, it causes an uneven pull on the skull, the spine and entire nervous system that may times results in non-traumatic back pain. Neuro Cranial Integration (NCi) technique helps to realign the Dura Matter, thus releasing tension in the spinal regions and easing back pain.
