For most athletes, water will do just fine when they need to quench their thirst and rehydrate their body.

The electrolytes and carbohydrates that they contain are crucial for post-workout muscle recovery, but sports drinks also contain high amounts of processed sugars, artificial flavors and chemical additives (colors, etc.) – these ingredients your body can do without. Next time you pick a sports drink, carefully examine the label additional ingredients.
